Linux: Ubuntu Installation in VMware Workstation
Today, it was my first time installing a Linux operating system. Linux (Wikipedia) is a free and open source operating system. There are lots of versions you can choose from and Ubuntu is the popular version. If you are looking for an ISO image file, you can download it here. I tested it already and it works fine.
I have already tackled about installing an operating system in VMware Workstation using Windows 7 and you can see it here. You just have to choose Linux in Guest Operating System section and choose Ubuntu as the Version.
If you successfully uploaded the ISO image file, you should get this:
Again, a series of steps will be shown and all you have to do is to choose the option correctly until you finished the installation and were able to install the operating system.
The image below is the Graphical User Interface of Ubuntu.
For a first time user, I immediately browse what it can do. We were also asked what will happened if we download a file from the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). The VLE is primarily what Anglia Ruskin University students and stuffs use to communicate each other such as downloading learning materials that the lecturers uploaded.
The downside about this operating system is that some files can not be opened like the .docx which is the Microsoft Word Office. The image below shows the error message I got when I opened the file.

TVersity (TVersity) allows you to upload, manage and share to everyone your media files such as images, audios and videos. Moreover, it let's you access the files wherever you are and whatever device you are using for it will automatically convert the files for you. You can download it here for free.
The image shows the Graphical User Interface (GUI). This software is easy because you can see everything what you want to know such as adding files. You can also easily access your files with the help of the directories that can be seen on the left-hand side.
For example, you want to add a file, choose Add Item and a new window will allow you to choose the file you want to upload.
The image below shows the video that I uploaded and accessed it on my desktop computer.
As you can see from the image below, it shows the properties of the video. The location is not in my desktop computer rather it is from the TVersity server. It was automatically converted to the settings available from my ocmputer.
TVersity is good for sharing and accessing easily your files. Again, if you are interested, you can download it here.

Windows 7 Installation in VMware Workstation
VMware Workstation (Wikipedia) is a virtual machine software which allows the user to install one or more operating system. This software is what we used to install the Windows 7 (Microsoft) operating system. The following images will show you how I install the operating system.
After that, if you successfully loaded the ISO image file, Windows 7 installation will start.
Follow the steps and after few minutes you'll be able to have a virtual machine for Windows 7.

First, this image shows the Graphical User Interface (GUI) of the Vmware Workstation. To add a new virtual machine, click New Virtual Machine then the New Virtual Machine Wizard will open. From the wizard, choose I will install the operating system later.
And now, you need to choose what Operating System and its version you will install. Since I'm installing Windows 7, I chose Microsoft Windows and Windows 7 under Version.
Here, I just chose the default location but you can also change it if you want.
I preferred having 40GB for my operating system.
In this section, from the New Virtual Machine Wizard (shown on the lower-right corner) choose Customize Hardware... In Hardware (shown on the upper-left corner) window choose New CD/DVD and from the Connection section choose Use ISO image file. A window will then open to allow you find the file.
After that, if you successfully loaded the ISO image file, Windows 7 installation will start.
Follow the steps and after few minutes you'll be able to have a virtual machine for Windows 7.
